Assignment # 1: Description of a room

At the far end of the room is a large French window with its curtains drawn to allow the sunshine in. On the far-left corner is a small desk with papers strewn all over it. In front of this desk is a tall lamp that towers over the TV beside it. This TV is black and has several knick-knacks balanced atop it. Below the TV, on a shelf inside the cabinet that supports the TV, is a black VCR with a videotape hanging out of its open mouth. Even further from the French window and approaching the opposite side of the room, is a sofa with a texture that blends together several shades of brown and sandy yellow. And directly opposite this sofa is a uniformly light brown French pavilion. On the far right corner of the room is a tall, narrow bookshelf that holds more board games than books. Along the wall and a few feet from the bookshelf is a large desk with Formica finishing. It is home to a predictably beige computer system, complete with speakers and a printer that sits on a little pullout trolley beside the desk. This desk has papers strewn across it too, but less so than the other one. On the wall, above the desk, is a poster of Mats Sundin, decked out in full Leafs regalia. In the middle of the room lies a black table with cylindrical metal legs and rounded corners. On its white plastic tablemat stands a lone cookie jar that is about as close to the exact centre of the room as it seems possible to get.
